Chair Re-design

Gotta love free stuff !  Just a couple of weeks after we moved in, we had piles of stuff to donate or sell. First, I thought that I might as well try to get some cash for the stuff before donating it.  So, I put out my piles of stuff... and... waited.  $13 dollars later, I called it quits.  However, my wonderful new neighbor asked if I wanted an old bistro set.  Sure!  Free patio furniture  anything is always nice.  So she came over with two chairs and a table, both of which needed some work. I figured I'd start with the easiest of the set - the two chairs.  I went to JoAnn fabrics, used a coupon (always!), and left with about 1 1/2 yards of outdoor canvas fabric and a about a yard of foam for the seat pads.  Instead of just sanding and painting the wooden seats, I wanted them to be more comfortable...and look better too!  S tep 1 : Remove the chairs seat from the frame with a screwdriver.  There were 8 screws per chair.   Step 2:  Put the seat on top of

Tool Wall !

My first project post is about our tool wall.  Organization makes life so much easier! After painting our laundry/storage room, my first need was to organize the tools.  Previously, we had all our tools thrown into a big tub.  Every time I needed something, I had to rummage through the tub and pull almost everything out in order to get the tool I needed. So, a pegboard tool wall was the solution.   I got 2, 2x4 foot pegboards.  I first walked out of Lowe's with a 4x4 pegboard, but it would not fit in my car.  So I walked right back in, returned, and got 2 smaller ones. I also got 6, 1x2x4 boards (pine, oak, poplar will work).  To hang the tools, I bought a 43 piece pegboard organizer and some extra pegboard hooks.  After using a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall, I drilled 2 inch drywall screws through the boards, into the walls. I had to build a frame first, otherwise the pegboard would be right up against the wall and I would not be able to put the pegs in

DIY 2 - a new blog about simple ideas that you can do too!

Welcome to my first post!  I'm excited, yet anxious to start a blog - not knowing what will come of it.  My main purpose is just to share my projects with my family and friends as my husband and I put together our first house.  However, I'm hoping that as I share, others will become inspired to DIY too, knowing that it can be pretty simple if you just use a little elbow grease.  So far, mostly all the projects I've done thus far have been done with simple tools that most people should have laying around the house. I get my inspirations from other DIY blogs, Pinterest, Better Homes and Garden magazines, and just browsing the internet for an idea to complete my interest for a home improvement.  I love organizing and am still working on becoming a better organizer.  I also like making crafts, scrapbooking, and gardening - all of which I will share when the projects are completed. I hope you will find these ideas interesting and inspiring.  Remember, you can DIY too!
